A name that is synonymous with Ethics and Excellence, Dr. Mir Jaffar is one of the very few qualified and professionally trained Embryologists in India. After completing his Masters in Medical Anatomy from renowned Manipal Medical University, he was selected for PhD in Clinical Embryology at RGUHS, Karnataka under the guidance
of Padma Shri Dr Kamini A Rao, a pioneer in the field of Reproductive medicine and an educationist of high repute. Dr Kamini Rao is one of the stalwarts of the medical profession in India and her contributions to the medical field and in particular to Assisted Reproduction is immeasurable. After completing his PhD, Dr Mir Jaffar was appointed as Scientific Director for Milann in 2017, which is one of the leading fertility centers in India and is considered to be amongst the country’s premier institutions for education and training in Reproductive Medicine both for clinicians and embryologists. He has also received advanced training from IVF Osaka, Japan.

A soaring infertility rate in Kashmir and their suffering going out of the valley for treatment built a vision for setting up of an advanced IVF center in the valley. He is the founder and Scientific Director at Valley Fertility Centre, one of the most advanced with highly qualified and trained staff fertility centers in Kashmir Valley. The centre strictly practices a non-donor programme. His vision is to make IVF treatment affordable with a high success rate in the valley. He is currently in process of collaborating with Milann for setting up a training and teaching institute at valley so that local doctors and professionals can be trained to tackle the growing concern of infertility.

Dr Mir Jaffar has been invited across the world as an expert to address troubleshooting in Embryology to improve clinical outcomes. He is known for his deep understanding of the Islamic perspective on IVF. He is active in clinical research and in academics and has trained more than 200 embryologists from India and other countries. He has co-authored the two editions of the textbook “Laboratory Assisted Techniques” along with Dr. Kamini Rao, and also contributed chapters for many international textbooks. He has papers in international publications and has been an invited speaker in both national and international conferences. He was also involved in many research projects at Milann and is a peer reviewer for “The International Journal of Infertility and Fetal Medicine” and “Andrologia”. His research interests in assisted reproductive technology include understanding the cause of infertility in men and optimizing the culture conditions in the IVF lab.
